For "The Colors of Life" painting, I wanted to bring together several endearing parts of mountain life. Autumn is a great time of year to get outside and enjoy the mild weather and deep rich color of the deciduous leaves as they change. I included a gazebo with a candlelit table set for dinner with just the right view to enjoy the waterfall and crossing deer. "A-frame" architecture is my favorite style of cabin, and I wanted to invite the viewer inside through large scale windows. A myriad of wildlife tell the story of autumn in the mountains. So I included several animals throughout the scene from the family of deer crossing the stream to more subtle elements like the trout, turtles, and an owl, just waiting to be discovered.
